RUNICWORLD

Security and trust

Who runs this, what the launcher does and how to verify what you downloaded.

Who we are

RunicWorld is a free, non-commercial, fan-made game built on the open-source AzerothCore server. The game servers, the website and these downloads are run by the RunicWorld team. There is no advertising, nothing is for sale, and this site has no login, forms, analytics or cookies.

What this site hosts

Only the files needed to install and update the game: the launcher, the Android app, the Mac launcher and the game files the launcher downloads. The game server has no web page. Only the game client connects to it.

What the launcher does

It reads version.txt and manifest.txt from this site, downloads only the game files that changed, verifies each one by hash and starts the game. It does not collect your password or personal data.

Check the file yourself

On Windows, right-click RunicWorldMirrorLauncher.exe, choose Properties, then Digital Signatures. Select the signature and press Details. It should say “This digital signature is OK” with a timestamp from Microsoft. A file changed after signing shows an invalid signature instead. You can also upload the file to VirusTotal, which shows what each antivirus engine says.

If Windows says “Windows protected your PC” or “isn’t commonly downloaded”, that is SmartScreen’s reputation check for new files. Once you have checked the signature, choose More info, then Run anyway.
